Participants must meet the following criteria in order to attend the TF-CBT training session:
- Possess a master’s or doctorate degree (in the areas of human services/mental health)
- Currently provide therapy to children and adolescents, and caregivers
- Be in contract with or employed by a CAC
Participants cannot be graduate interns or administrators who don’t provide direct services. However, provisionally licensed clinicians will be permitted if they are under the supervision of a licensed clinician.
Additionally, because this program is funded by a grant from the Department of Justice to provide training to CACs and MDTs within the Southern region, priority will be given to those who apply from this region.
Participants are required to:
- Commit to attending all three days of this training.
- Complete the TF-CBT Web 2.0 online learning course prior to the on-site training. Participants will need to provide a certificate of completion on the first day of this training. To access the online training course, go to TF-CBT Web 2.0.
- Participate in 14 follow-up consultation calls, which occur 1-2 times per month.
- Identify TF-CBT cases with unique clinical implementation challenges for case presentation on consultation calls.
- Administer, score, and use standardized assessments to guide delivery of TF-CBT. Recommendations for assessments will be provided. CACs are responsible for associated costs; however, an effort will be made to identify free or low-cost assessments.
- Ensure that all TF-CBT clients complete and receive feedback on clinical assessments at the start and end of TF-CBT treatment. (TF-CBT providers are expected to administer and score assessments unless the CAC has another mechanism for doing so.)
*Additional Requirements for Attending Virtual TF-CBT*
In order to deliver the model with fidelity and quality, and in order to comply with virtual limitations set by the TF-CBT developers, we are making the following changes for the August 2020 virtual training:
- Registration is open to 25 attendees.
- Only one therapist may attend from a CAC.
- Attendees must have access to stable internet and the ability to connect to Zoom via a computer – calling in will not be an option.
- Attendees must be on camera throughout the virtual training.
- Attendees must have access to a video-based platform for the delivery of TF-CBT remotely if not seeing clients in person.
- Attendees must attend and participate in all virtual training sessions. If an hour or more of training is missed the participant is no longer eligible to continue.
- Attendees must have ability to access and review supplemental training materials outside of the live learning sessions. Training materials will be emailed to attendees.
Attendees of a virtual TF-CBT training are still eligible for national certification (www.tfcbt.org).
Thank you for understanding the necessary changes through this unprecedented time. If you have any questions about the new requirements, contact Meredith Wilkes at mwilkes@nationalcac.org.
